Cyra Sommer

Cyra Sommer is a Ph.D. candidate at the HCGES and a research fellow at the Archive for German-speaking Jewry in Israel (AGSJI). Her research project examines the relationships of former German Jews in Israel—so-called Yekkes—with Germany and German society after the Shoah. She holds a B.A. in Jewish Studies and Islamic Studies and an M.A. in History and Politics of the 20th Century. Her research interests include German-Jewish history of the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of antisemitism, German post-war history, and German-Israeli relations. Since 2025, she is a member of the editorial board of Medaon. Magazin für jüdisches Leben in Forschung und Bildung.
