Haifa Center for German and European Studies (HCGES) was pleased to host Kyra Gerber from the Duitsland Instituut Amsterdam (DIA), the DAAD Center at the University of Amsterdam.

Kyra Gerber is currently pursuing her PhD on Jewish masculinities in the 19th century in Germany and the Netherlands, a project that brings together German-Jewish history, gender studies, and transnational perspectives.

During her visit, Dr. Irit Chen introduced HCGES’s academic activities and research initiatives, as well as the work of the HCGES Archive. Kyra also visited the Yekkes Wing, where she learned more about German-Jewish heritage in Israel and the archival resources available to researchers.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss possibilities for strengthening academic connections between Haifa and Amsterdam, including future cooperation between HCGES and DIA.
